Freshly stone-milled each week, our Red Sorghum Flour is single-farm sorghum milled whole grain, earthy and bold with a warm tint that carries through the crumb.
Description
Grown on a single farm and freshly stone-milled in Amarillo, Texas, Red Sorghum Flour brings more flavor and color than our white sorghum. The whole kernel goes through the mill and nothing is sifted out, so you get the full grain in every bag. In recipes leavened with baking powder or baking soda, it bakes much like an all-purpose wheat flour. For yeasted loaves, add xanthan gum to give the dough the structure sorghum lacks on its own. Its earthy flavor and warm color show up in flatbreads on their own and give wheat blends more character.
Earthy Flavor, Warm Color
Whether you are baking flatbreads or giving a wheat loaf more depth, our Red Sorghum Flour brings bold flavor and a warm tint to the bake. We stone-mill our identity-preserved grains to keep the natural oils, nutrients, and flavor that industrial milling strips out.
