1 1/2 tbsp (20 g) sugar

2 1/4 tsp (7 g) dried yeast

1 1/2 tsp (10 g) salt

Layer the Ingredients: Add ingredients to the bread machine pan in this order: water, sourdough discard, flour, butter, sugar, yeast, and salt (in opposite corners so yeast and salt don’t touch).

Select the Setting: Use the wheat loaf setting with a dark crust for a robust sourdough-style flavor. Alternatively, choose any setting you prefer for a basic white or sandwich loaf.

Start the Machine: Press start and allow the bread machine to complete its cycle.

Cool the Loaf: Carefully remove the loaf and let it cool completely on a wire rack before slicing.
